The Kings head to Phoenix. No practice in El Segundo tomorrow.

PAUL’S TAKE

Philo Beddoe would be proud of the fight in the Kings tonight. Despite being out hit, out shot and losing the faceoff battle, the Kings block 15 shots and kill all 4 Calgary power plays – and yes, capitalize on their only one. And while there’s still no shutout by Quick or a goal by Doughty, the Kings continue to find ways to win games, sending a clear message to the rest of the league that they have awoken from their slumber. Too homer-ish? Maybe, but from what I’m seeing, they are proving they are anything but a fluke. The Kings are tied for 5th most goals and 3rd fewest goals given up in the third period.

Quick had a great game..Too bad he couldnt save the Flames only goal..He could have it but it is what it is…

Kings did great 1st then dont know what happen in the 3rd…lol

It’s that damn 5 hole. Goalies keep forgetting to close it. The Blues scored 3 goals all on tip ins because Bernier kept forgetting (or just wasn’t closing it for one reason or another) about his gaping wide 5 hole.

Plus, Quickie wouldn’t have had to try and make that save if Marty had moved his feet a little better. As you said though, “It is what is.” Can’t take back anything now.

Hopefully the team gets their first shutout tomorrow night but if not, a win at the very least will be nice.

Paul, as always, thanks for all you do.

On a side note: OMG, Kings made NHL Tonight! That’s what happens when there are only 2 games to report on in one night. Except of course, they still spent like 20 minutes talking about Bruins and maybe a grand total of 5 minutes on the Kings. Oh well, can’t win ‘em all. Yes, I still say it’s East Coast Bias.

Great win tonight by the Kings. Hope they go out and get another 2 points from those whiners in Phoenix.

No, it’s not too homer-ish at all. The Kings haven’t fired on all cylinders at once yet, and are still 4th in the West. How do you think other teams feel about that? Winning a Stanley Cup is NEVER an accident (like death and taxes and erratic female behavior). My guess is that the other teams are cringing knowing that the Kings have four d-men in the line-up who have less than 100 games played, and are still more talented on the blue line, by far, than any other team. A true embarrassment of riches (knock wood).
Add to that two incredibly offensively talented, defensively dominant centerman. And then add to tha Drew Doughty. And then add to that incredibly talented, rather large, quick, speedy, talented, physically dominant wingers. Oh, yeah, Conn Smythe Quick and Jonathan Bernier. None of whom have hit their stride individually, let alone as a group. Yeah, league. Fear this!!!!
