Now, after spending the past six seasons bouncing around between the American Hockey League, the National Hockey League and, most recently, the German Hockey League, Gauthier is bringing his talents to the ECHL’s Colorado Eagles.
The team announced Wednesday that they have signed the 28-year-old forward to a one-year contract for the 2012-13 season.
“Coach (Chris) Stewart tried to get me a couple of years ago, but I decided to go to Europe,” Gauthier said. “Last year was an OK year, but I just wanted to come back home to the states and play North American hockey.”
Gauthier will be one of four veterans allowed on the active roster, and will likely join former DU teammate Kevin Ulanski on the team. He brings with him four seasons of American Hockey League experience, playing with the Manchester Monarchs from 2006 to 2010. During that time, Gauthier also played with the Los Angeles Kings, appearing in eight games in two seasons .
