No Go: Toffoli to sit, Richards fine

Pregame Skate

Today’s pregame skate saw the entire Kings squad on the ice, including Tyler Toffoli and Mike Richards, who it was believed may be injured after the shot he took by the Flames Tim Jackman. But this morning’s skate revealed Richards was just fine as he participated in all the drills on his usual line with Carter and Penner.

The speculation was that Toffoli’s call up from Manchester was due to an injury but that appears to be false. Could it have been prompted by the hit on Richards as a precautionary move? Sure. Could Dean have been looking for a good time to bring Toffoli in and get him acclimated to the system and the Richards hit prompted it? Sure. But until Lombardi lets us know, those details will remain murky.

Paul, I don’t know if you had a chance to look at LAKI this morning but prior to Jon’s post of Sutter quotes it was pandemonium; there was a lot of hot air being blown around and some (I think genuine) concern about the call up. Does he seem to be gelling well with the guys (as far as you can tell from one brief practice

I didn’t read the comments today on LAKI but I already know what they say ;) Toffoli seemed to fit in just fine. He was talking to a lot of guys who seemed to welcome him with open arms. Plenty of smiles and a lot of focus on work. All good. In the last video posted here, you can watch him get in quite a bit of work with Richardson and Drewiske.

then whats the point on calling him up?

If trade coming y call him up now?Should they call him up when the trade just happen?

So far this making no sense.

  3. KC23 says:

Good stuff as usual Paul. Seems like the most likely situation. The trading deadline dictates that anything could happen and probably will. You never know when DL gets that call with a deal you just can’t pass up.

What Say You?
