Watch Coach Babcock complain about last night’s “non-calls” below. At one point he says a penalty should have been called on the clean hit by Jake Muzzin on Dan Cleary. Not sure if he thinks the rules don’t apply to the Red Wings or what. Last I checked, they were in the NHL too where checking is allowed.
Here’s the Muzzin hit on Cleary
A tame Zetterberg gives his take on the game last night.
THE VIEW FROM DETROIT RAGS
Editor’s Note: Wings D-man Brendan Smith, on the other hand, had a legitimate complaint. He was run over by Penner on what should have been an interference call. The hit didn’t look too bad but not only was he caught off guard, he was just back after being out with a right shoulder injury… yes, the same shoulder Penner slammed into. Did Penz know? Hmmm… For more on this, here’s the full story…

The Wings couldn’t have had a much stronger start: They practically owned the puck, batting it around L.A.’s zone with such efficiency.Bernier had seen 10 shots by the midway point of the first period. One of those beat him: Quincey’s shot – and it’s generous to call it a shot – went in off Bernier’s mask as Voynov tried to out-stick Jordin Tootoo for the puck.
The Detroit News
For two periods the Red Wings were the better team Wednesday. But it was a costly third period that did the Wings in again. Goals by forwards Carter (power play) and Kopitar rallied Los Angeles to a 2-1 victory over the Red Wings.

Awesome title. Not that it’s super related, but I have been seeing pictures of drunk red wings fans at the game (as in passed out) on different threads. Would be great if you started a page on other fans for people to actively post to your site. UGC.
I’ve been thinking a lot about doing similar things. It’s a great idea and hope to incorporate it! Thanks.
Love your titles, especially as of late. Duck, Duck, Lose… Kool Hand Kopitar and now today with Red, Red Whine.
You, sir, are en fuego. Musta caught it from JMFC
My headline wrister is deadly!
Thank you Robyn.
Wait. You have headline writers? Nice!
How many people you got working round here, anywho?
I love watching other players and other coaches whine how The Champs get all the calls. It sure is nice to be in the catbird seast for the 1st time in my life as a fan.
Off topic: I would like to see you post something in reference to that jealous, vicious, vendictive little hypocrite known as “little” Bobby Scribe who had no problem tearing the insder, its hosts, and participants a new rear end, then has the audacity to show up on the site and act like nothing ever happened.
I didn’t catch it on LAKI but I’m not surprised given his rewrite of that horrific hit piece on Hammond and Rosen along with his tame open letter to Jon. I doubt he feels differently all the sudden but hopefully he’s at least sincere enough not to be a complete hater just for the sake of hating and appealing to the lowest common denominator. His idea of what a “die-hard” Kings fan is very different than mine, that’s for sure.
I didn’t see an appearance from Bobby Scribe on Insider since Rosen cited his blog most recently, but I did see a comment from Surly Jacob.
Bobby really puzzled me with that “article.” It was demeaning to the entire community, and so narcissistic as to be absurd. Never mind that the entire premise was stupid, that “nobody” cares about the Insider when it gets the most traffic of any, but the tone was juvenile in its un-reasoned and needlessly extreme hatred.
To then scrub the original article, and in so doing write a disclaimer at the top saying he did it for those “delicate flowers that are insulted” or words to that effect is totally disingenuous, too. I mean, he is re-insulting those to whom he is at the same time surrendering to. If I was him, I would not want that article out there at all, either, but to get rid of it in such a cowardly way only echoes the same hollow sound of word-puking into his toilet-blog that the article came from in the first place.
Other than that, he’s a nice guy sometimes when he wants to be. Mostly, though, he is where he deserves to be: Head of the Crass.
I didn’t see it on LAKI either. Doesn’t surprise me. I don’t pay it any attention tho.
i d k…
in the end, we will look back at this game as a win…whereas, detroit will look at it as a loss…sounds like hockey to me…
the irony here is that detroit can use this game themselves as a changing point in narrowing their focus and putting together a string of wins – just like the kings did after game 10…
Let us hope not. Seeing Detroit miss the playoffs would be a wonderful thing.
Paul, I think it is an insult to say “The View From The Detroit Rags.” Why would you use those words?
Saying “Rags” and View is obviously inflammatory.
It implies that rags are capable of having “Views,” and elevates the Detroit Press to the level of insight being capable of having Views.
Clean it up, man, “Views” is a pretty strong word.
Caught. No excuses. Full retraction coming up when hell freezes over. In this case, hell is Detroit and froze over a month ago. Whops! Missed the deadline.
